Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Do I need a referral from a physician to start physical therapy?
In many cases, no. Washington State allows direct access to physical therapy, meaning you can often begin treatment without a physician referral. However, some insurance plans do require a prescription, including Medicare and certain Regence and Blue Cross Blue Shield plans. Our team is happy to verify your insurance benefits and help you determine the best next step before your first visit.
What should I expect at my first physical therapy appointment?
Your initial visit includes one-on-one time with your physical therapist. We’ll discuss your medical history, current concerns, goals, and how your pain or injury is affecting your daily life. A thorough evaluation will guide the creation of a personalized treatment plan, and most patients begin treatment at their first visit. We encourage questions—understanding your condition and plan of care is an important part of your recovery.
How long are your physical therapy sessions?
Initial visits are approximately 45 minutes, and follow-up visits are approximately 60 minutes. At each visit, you will receive 45 minutes of one-on-one care with your physical therapist. For continuity of care, you will work with the same physical therapist at each visit whenever possible.
Do you accept my insurance?
Quest Physical Therapy works with many major insurance plans. Coverage and benefits vary based on your specific policy. Our front-office team is happy to verify your insurance and explain your benefits before your first visit. In-network plans include Premera, Regence, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Uniform Regence, Washington State Labor & Industries, Regence Federal Employee Program, Aetna, Cigna, Medicare, Kaiser Permanente PPO, First Choice, and LifeWise.
Do you offer post-operative physical therapy?
Yes. Post-operative rehabilitation is a key part of what we do. We regularly work with patients recovering from procedures such as ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, joint replacement, and other orthopedic surgeries. When appropriate, we also offer pre-operative physical therapy to support better surgical outcomes.
What makes Quest Physical Therapy different?
Quest Physical Therapy is a locally owned private practice built on the belief that great outcomes come from time, trust, and individualized care. We prioritize one-on-one treatment sessions, patient care over productivity numbers, collaboration and education, and a supportive, welcoming clinic environment.
Do you offer dry needling?
Yes. Dry needling is one of several techniques we may use when appropriate to help reduce pain, improve mobility, and support recovery. Your physical therapist will determine whether it is appropriate for your condition.
How many visits will I need?
The number of visits varies depending on your condition, goals, and how your body responds to treatment. We regularly reassess your progress to ensure care is efficient and aligned with your needs.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy movement and access to the area being treated. Athletic or casual clothing and supportive footwear are ideal.
